This artwork is created from naturally and ethically sourced layers of bald faced hornet nests. Their nests have subtle hints of blues, grays, and amber tones that originate in the wood fiber they eat to create their multi-layered works of art. The nest is abandoned in the fall and then rebuilt in the Spring. The artist meticulously dissects the abandoned nest layer by layer to flatten and preserve it, creating a flowing design that evokes the flow of nature. Ironically, the artist is deathly allergic to wasps and hornets.
